Scripture:
John 14:18
“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
Believers live in what might be called the “in-between.” We look back to the cross where Christ defeated sin and death, and we look forward to the resurrection and the new creation where everything will be made right. Yet today we still live in a world filled with suffering, struggle, and the effects of sin.
Jesus knew His disciples would face this tension after He ascended into heaven. He understood the trials they would experience and the confusion they would feel living without His physical presence. That is why He promised they would not be left alone. Even in the in-between, Christ provides His presence, His Spirit, and His peace to sustain His people.
