Devotion: A Helper In Every Burden

Scripture:
John 14:16–17

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter… even the Spirit of truth.”

Life will inevitably place burdens on us that are heavier than we can carry alone. Jesus knew His disciples would encounter moments when they felt overwhelmed, confused, or afraid. That is why He promised to send another Comforter — one who would come alongside them to help in their time of need.

The Holy Spirit is not a distant observer of our struggles. He is actively present within believers, strengthening them, guiding them, and reminding them of truth. When we face moments where we feel stuck under the weight of life, we can trust that God has not abandoned us. The Spirit is already there, ready to help us lift what we cannot lift ourselves.

Questions

  1. What burdens in your life currently feel too heavy to carry?
  2. How might remembering the Spirit’s presence change your response to those burdens?
  3. When was a time you clearly experienced God’s help in a difficult situation?
